    Cadets Qualified for NJROTC National Championship 01/11/2012
     
    Two NJROTC cadets have qualified to compete at the NJROTC National Championship, 12-14 February 2012, at Camp Perry, Ohio.  

    Congratulations to Shawn Cleary (Senior), and Mandi Major (Junior) on their this outstanding achievement!  Shawn finished 2nd and Mandi finished 5th in the state of Texas among all Navy schools at this year's Secretary of Navy NJROTC Air Rifle Competition. This will be the second time in three years that Shawn has advanced to Nationals.  

    Over 2,750 cadets participated in this year’s competition with Shawn finishing 12th and Mandi 44th in the nation.
     
    NJROTC Coastal Bend Classic Drill Meet Results 12/16/2011
     
    On Friday/Saturday, 9/10 December 2011, our NJROTC Unit competed at the Coastal Bend Classic Drill Meet held at Rockport, TX.   Our teams finished  2nd place overall among the 15 JROTC units at this meet.  The following are the individual team results:

    Note:  Our Armed and Unarmed Drill Teams had to perform their regulation and exhibition drill in the rain and cold on Saturday.  They did an outstanding job in spite of the adverse conditions!

    Cross Country State Finals 11/18/2011
     
    Mehran Namazkar finished 23rd at the Cross Country state finals.  He improved from being the 10th place regional qualifier to 5th in the region.  His 23rd place finish is the highest ever for a Fort Bend runner.  Way to go Mehran!

    AHS varsity volleyball players earn district recognition! 11/18/2011
     
     
    NJROTC UNIT QUALIFIES FOR STATE NJROTC CHAMPIONSHIP 11/10/2011
     
    Saturday, 4 November 2011, SF Austin NJROTC Unit competed at the Veterans Classic JROTC Drill Meet in Seguin, Texas.  The teams had a strong showing and finished overall 3rd place among the 27 JROTC units.  More importantly, the NJROTC unit finished in 2nd place among the 22 Navy schools, thus qualifying for the Area 10 Manager’s Championship Drill Meet, being held at Texas A&M University, 24-25 February 2012!

    Congratulations to all of our cadets on their impressive finish!  

    Top finishes include:

    1st  Place Academics:  Team CDR-C/CPO Michael Brand

    2nd Place Armed Drill Team:  Team CDR-C/LTJG Ryan Pruthi

    3rd Place Armed Drill Team Overall:  Team CDR-C/LTJG Ryan Pruthi

    3rd Place Obstacle Course:  Team CDR-C/PO1 Britany Orta

    Top Meet Air Rifle shooter:  C/LT Shawn Cleary, shooting 282 of 300!  
     
    Memorial-Hermann and Channel 2’s Athlete of the Week! 11/08/2011
     
    Kaitlyn Brooks, our volleyball senior setter, has been awarded Memorial-Hermann and Channel 2’s Athlete of the Week!  A huge honor!  Kaitlyn was presented the award here at AHS on Friday, November 4.  The award presentation was filmed and will air Wednesday night (Nov. 9) on Channel 2 News at 10.
     
    Cross Country Qualifies for Regionals 10/27/2011
     
    The boys cross country team placed 2nd at the district meet on Friday and qualified for regionals.  Meharan Namazkar was the overall champion with a 15:43.  Abhi Kallaur placed 4th in the boy’s race. 

    Anita Vinjamuri placed 9th in the girls race and individually qualified for regionals.

     
    Tennis Team Advances to Regionals 10/26/2011
     
    Congratulations to our varsity Bulldog tennis team, they are headed to Regionals!

    Austin beat Kempner 10-4 to finish Runner-Up in District 23-5A.

    Rachel Pham and Yanan Wang won a clutch doubles match against Kempner’s top girl and her partner 4-6, 7-5, 6-4. Also coming up big was the boys doubles teams of Andrew Littlefield and Dan Garcia, Aaron Reekie and Sundar Devakottai, and Chase Mack and Aaron Kasnavia as they swept the Kempner boys.

    In girls singles, Jennie Ho won her line two match 6-2, 6-1.

    Regionals will be played Friday at a place to be determined.
