Choir Competes in Alamo Showcase of Music04/18/2012 The choir competed in the Alamo Showcase of Music in San Antonio the weekend of March 31. Both Austin Singers and Chorale received a SUPERIOR RATING! Both Austin Singers and Chorale received the OUTSTANDING IN CLASS recognition. Chorale also received FIRST PLACE (OVERALL OUTSTANDING RATING). Congratulations to all choir members! AHS UIL One Act Play Advances to Region04/17/2012 AHS Theatre advanced to region in UIL One Act production. -Best Actor went to David Herrera -Courtney Russell was awarded All Star Cast -All star cast honorable mention went to Nora Hunt Regional competition takes place Saturday, April 21 at San Jacinto College. NJROTC cadet Couch is awarded a scholarship to Texas A&M.
Two NJROTC cadets have qualified to compete at the NJROTC National Championship, 12-14 February 2012, at Camp Perry, Ohio. Congratulations to Shawn Cleary (Senior), and Mandi Major (Junior) on their this outstanding achievement! Shawn finished 2nd and Mandi finished 5th in the state of Texas among all Navy schools at this year's Secretary of Navy NJROTC Air Rifle Competition. This will be the second time in three years that Shawn has advanced to Nationals. Over 2,750 cadets participated in this year’s competition with Shawn finishing 12th and Mandi 44th in the nation. On Friday/Saturday, 9/10 December 2011, our NJROTC Unit competed at the Coastal Bend Classic Drill Meet held at Rockport, TX. Our teams finished 2nd place overall among the 15 JROTC units at this meet. The following are the individual team results: Team results: Academic Team: 2nd Air Rifle Team: 3rd Shawn Cleary was 2nd in kneeling, 3rd in standing and was 2nd overall high shooter! Cross Country State Finals11/18/2011 Mehran Namazkar finished 23rd at the Cross Country state finals. He improved from being the 10th place regional qualifier to 5th in the region. His 23rd place finish is the highest ever for a Fort Bend runner. Way to go Mehran!
